About The Course

INCEPTION

The Department of Tamil was instituted in 1996 . The Course B.Sc. BA Tamil is being offered since 2004.

OBJECTIVE

• The language courses enhance students’ understanding of linguistic concepts and language discourse from a functional grammar perspective. The literature courses offer an insight into a range of literary genres, periods and styles. The programmer is taught by qualified lecturers and renowned foreign guest-lecturers.
• B.A Tamil Literature Course programmer caters to the needs of adults who aspire to enhance their competence and knowledge levels in Tamil language and literature. Furthermore, courses on linguistics and translation have been incorporated to suit local needs of our bilingual society.

DEPARTMENT LIBRARY AND LANGUAGE LAB

The Library has developed an excellent collection of books, journals and non-book material in science, engineering, technology, humanities, social sciences and management. It maintains separate collections of Reference Books, Bound volumes of journals, and Technical Reports.

ACTIVITIES

• The Department organizes several activities to motivate the students and to provide them with potential resources which they can apply in future.

CERTIFICATE COURSE

• The Department offers a 20 hour course on Report writing and Functional Tamil for Second year students.

• National Seminar on Myth: Seeking Meaning in the Modern World was held on August 1, 2019.
