INCEPTION
The Department of Commerce was established in the year 1996.
OBJECTIVE
- The objective of the department is to nurture students with the intellectual, personal and societal skills along with ethical moral and spiritual values for a holistic education. Graduates will be able to pursue higher education and take-up jobs in the field of Commerce.
- The subjects in Commerce place special emphasis on addressing real-life business issues where students are exposed to case studies and specific problems drawn from the industry which serves as the backdrop, necessary to face the challenges of the business world. Students are given practical classes in which they have to make thorough analysis of the theories they have been taught.

CERTIFICATE COURSE
The Department offers a 20-hour course on Emerging Trends in E-Commerce for second year students.
SEMINAR
A State Level Seminar on‘Industry 4.0 – Change to transform’was organized on 6 February 2020. Dr.P.G.Babu, Director, Madras Institute of Development Studies inaugurated the seminar. And Mr.Babu Krishnamoorthy, Founder and Chief Sherpa, Finsherpa Investment Services delivered the key note address.
